Mexican-style Burgers

A tasty, fully loaded burger!

This is my cheap and easy way to spice up an old favourite.  Must be served in a gluten-free bun, of course!

Yield

4 quarter pounders

Preparation time

25 mins

Ingredients

450g (1lb) good quality minced or ground beef. Not too lean.
1 small onion
2-3 cloves of garlic
1 egg
2-3 fresh green chillies (if liked)
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp paprika (preferably smoked)
Chilli powder or cayenne to taste
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  • Preheat the grill to a moderate heat
  • Finely chop the onion, garlic and chillies (if using) and combine well with the meat
  • Add the lightly beaten egg and mix
  • Add the dry ingredients and incorporate into the meat and onion mix
  • Divide the mixture into four equal balls and flatten on a chopping board
  • Grill for about 15 minutes, turning regularly

Notes

  • These burgers are great with cheese - add for the last 2 minutes of grilling
  • Using smoked paprika gives them a subtle flame grilled taste

Burgers!

Wow - like the new photo of the GF burger Adam!

That "fully loaded" one is surely made by the hands of someone who really knows his burgers.
