Sorry to hear that. Yes a lot of my recipes use ground almonds because they help keep the moisture in cakes, cookies and other baked goods without affecting the flavour. I doubt that you can actually taste any almond flavour. Ground almonds are very neutral in taste. Is it possible that what they object to is almond flavouring? This can be very pronounced and I do know of people who hate that flavour. I would suggest trying a recipe without telling them what's in it to see if they actually notice. A bit sneeky I know, but sometime you have to use underhanded techniques to out wit prejudices!
